Leipoldtville
The small village of Leipoldtville north-east of Elands Bay on the road to Graafwater, was established in 1905 when the Reverend C.J. Leipoldt of Clanwilliam started a congregation of the Dutch Reformed Church to serve the farming community in the area.

Reverend Leipoldt used to sleep in a room at the Country Retreat when he came to Leipoldtville for Communion, and he was the father of the well known C Louis Leipoldt, physician, poet and author
This camping site in the middle of the Game farm, dates back to the early years during the "Anglo Boer War" where it served as the ideal "hide-away" for horses and donkeys from the English troops. Later in 1933, because of it's high altitude, it served as safer ground for the animals against Horse sickness.
